Farewell Football Match
DDP’s former-co-director, Justin Smith, was a big part of getting the Deaf Warriors (men’s football team) and then the Deaf Amazons (women’s football team) started. In his honor, we had one last match with him, before he moves to England. Check out the highlights below!
This is the way that all goalies warm-up before the game. Right?
Looks like it was a good technique.
This goalie was not letting anything past!
Justin takes a knee mid-game, apparently his opponent didn’t like that idea so decide to kick him for it.
Charging back toward the goal
Miguel, DDP Field Worker, responds taking the ball back the other way.
Our smallest player got a goal!
And, his teammates could not have been prouder!
That is the face of a happy football player! Enjoying a celebratory jump with his teammates.
The newest style of defense.
Powering up to charge the goal.
Not exactly sure this is a legal move in any country, but, the ref didn’t seem to notice.
This is also probably not a good way to deal with your frustration with the other team.
After the Deaf Warriors match against DDP staff and Deaf community members, the Deaf Amazons and Strong Grannies mixed their teams for a friendly women’s match. Sadly, our photographer is a Strong Granny, so we just have one shot from that game.
Arlinda, the Deaf Community Development Project Manager presents Justin with a commemorative jersey, that was later signed by all in attendance.
