Where is the table?
For many hearing people, the placement of different objects when interpreting can be a challenging concept to get. If the table is placed on the right hand side, initially when someone is talking about the table, then there the table will stay in the mental picture unless it is moved. This morning, during an interpreting workshop, the DDP interpreters were practicing by describing different locations, which their counterparts then had to draw. It was a great way for them to continue to hone their skills to better work within our Deaf community.
